Updated

Does NoteAlong export to Anki, Obsidian, Notion, Markdown or PDF?

Yes. Anki decks (.apkg with images, or CSV), Obsidian vault sync and Markdown files are free on every plan, including Free with its 120 minutes and 5 notes a month. Notion sync and PDF export are included in Pro. Anki and Markdown exports can take one note, a folder or all your notes. Export to Anki again and the cards you already have update instead of turning into a second deck.

Where notes go

Five places a note can go

DestinationWhat it doesPlan
AnkiFlashcards as an .apkg deck with slide images, or a CSV. Decks follow your folders. Export again and changed cards update in place, with your review history kept.[Free]
ObsidianNoteAlong's community plugin, or vault folder sync from Chrome or Edge. Plain Markdown files with properties and slide images, in your vault. Your own section is never overwritten.[Free]
MarkdownCopy a note as Markdown, or download a note, a folder or everything as a .zip with the images. Opens in any Markdown editor.[Free]
NotionSync a note, or a whole folder of them, to pages in your Notion workspace. Sync a folder again and only the notes you edited are sent.[Included in Pro]

Worth knowing

Two things to know before you export

Free means free

Anki export, Send to Anki, the Obsidian plugin and vault sync have no plan gate. The free plan limits how many notes you make each month, not where they go.

Exports go out, documents don't come in

NoteAlong doesn't import PDFs, slide decks or documents. Notes start from a browser tab, a YouTube link, your microphone or an audio or video file.

FAQ

Export questions, answered short

Is the Anki export really free?

Yes. Anki export and Send to Anki cost nothing on any plan, and so does the Obsidian plugin. The free plan's limit is on making notes: 120 minutes and 5 notes a month.

Can I send notes to Notion on the free plan?

Not with Notion sync, which is included in Pro along with PDF export. On Free you can copy a note as Markdown and paste it into a Notion page yourself.

Do exports include the slide images?

Mostly, yes. The Anki .apkg puts a slide on the card it matches. The .zip and vault sync save images as files. Copy as Markdown leaves a placeholder where each image goes, and the Anki CSV is text only.

Can I export a whole course at once?

Yes. Right-click a folder to export it to Anki or download it as Markdown. Subfolders come along, and in Anki each folder becomes its own deck.

Will exporting again make duplicates?

Not in Anki or Obsidian. Anki cards keep a fixed ID, so a new .apkg updates them in place. Vault sync rewrites a file only when the note changed, and never touches your own section.
